Puerto Vallarta is a unique destination that captivates travelers from all over the world. Its breathtaking beaches are well-known, but there are a few hidden gems that can only be reached by boat, which provide a unique and unforgettable experience for those seeking a more private experience.
From my personal experience, sailing to these secluded beaches is an absolute must on every visit to the bay! Not only are they less crowded, but the panoramic views from the boat are spectacular. Also, the seafood we ate at the restaurants located on these hidden beaches were the absolute highlights of our trip.
One of my all-time favorite hidden beaches is Playa Colomitos, known to be the smallest beach in Mexico. Just a short boat ride away from Puerto Vallarta, this beach's turquoise waters and white sand make it feel like a surreal paradise. It is the perfect spot to lay in the sun, unwind, and capture stunning photos to share on instagram. And the restaurant just above the beach, Ocean Grill, is undeniably one of the most exceptional eating experience in Puerto Vallarta.
Another fantastic spot to explore is Playa Las Animas, situated just south of Puerto Vallarta. This beach is renowned for its wide variety of restaurants. You can also rent a kayak or paddleboard to explore the nearby coves or simply relax on the beach and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
Playa Quimixto is a bit farther away, roughly 45 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta, but it's absolutely worth the journey. The waterfalls, beach clubs and the beach makes it a tourist favorite. Visitors can take a dip, go snorkeling, or explore the nearby waterfalls and jungle trails for an adrenaline-fueled and relaxing day.
Playa Majahuitas is another great option located more south of Puerto Vallarta. It is known for having a great beach club that is really famous for weekend parties. Visitors can rent snorkeling gear to explore the nearby reef or simply unwind on the beach and soak up the awe-inspiring surroundings.
Last but not least, Playa Yelapa is a peaceful beach located roughly an hour south of Puerto Vallarta, it is the biggest of all the hidden beaches being almost a little town of its own. With its calm waters and lush vegetation, it's the ultimate paradise to unwind and spend a relaxing day. Visitors can hike to the nearby waterfall or just relax on the beach and marvel at the stunning vistas.
To conclude, exploring these hidden beaches that can only be reached by boat is a truly one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience. These secret spots offer a serene escape from the crowds and are perfect for those seeking a more intimate connection with the natural beauty of the region.
